NRS Pilot Knife
NRS Pilot Knife
A river knife needs to be accessible, reliable, and intuitive to use under pressure. The NRS Pilot Knife delivers all three, and then follows you home to the camp bin and the garage.
Designed for freshwater boating and rescue, the Pilot is a longer-bladed fixed knife that pairs naturally with a PFD via the low-profile Thumbs Up Sheath. The sheath attaches securely to a PFD lash tab and releases with a one-handed thumb flick, so drawing the blade is fast and instinctive even in a difficult situation. A lanyard attachment point at the handle tip gives you a secondary connection to your PFD or gear so the knife stays with you if things go sideways in rough water.
The 9 cm blade is 420 HC stainless steel with a partially serrated edge and reverse scallop serrations that cut through rope, webbing, and tough fibres quickly and cleanly. A blunt tip and asymmetrical handle and blade design mean you always know the orientation by feel alone, reducing the risk of injury in a fast-moving rescue situation. Jimping along the blade spine anchors your thumb and prevents grip slippage with cold, wet hands, and the glass-reinforced polypropylene handle with rubber overlay stays secure and comfortable in any conditions. A built-in oxygen tank valve wrench rounds out the rescue functionality. Recommended for freshwater use. For saltwater environments, NRS offers the Titanium Pilot Knife.
