Transporting expensive spinning rod and reel setups on a roof rack or trailer without a purpose-built carrier is the kind of compromise that tends to end with a damaged rod tip or a reel that's taken a knock on the highway.
The Malone Striper-4 carries up to four large spinning rod and reel combos securely on most aftermarket and factory load bars, with universal fit mounting brackets that work on round, square, and oval bar profiles. The fully padded tip clamp protects rod tips from vibration and impact during transport, and the key-locking mechanism deters opportunistic theft at trailheads, campsites, and boat launches where gear is left unattended. Two lengths of mounting bolts are included to accommodate different bar thicknesses without improvising.
Corrosion-resistant components and mounting hardware hold up through repeated saltwater and freshwater use, and the carrier works on both rooftop and trailer applications. At just 4 lb, it adds almost nothing to your rack setup.
Note: For rooftop applications, mount with rod tips facing forward to avoid damage when opening the tailgate. Replacement keys are not available, store them in a safe place. Some assembly required.
